When I got into photography, I wanted my career to be in journalism. At the time, embedded photographs were sending back images from Iraq and Afghanistan and I really wanted to tell the story they were telling. Unfortunately, I went to a school focused on studio work and did not get much of a chance to work on my desired craft. I spent most of my time fiddling with lights.
I was a manager at Swamp Restaurant in Gainesville after photo school. During championship games, I carried a camera around to snap pics of the staff as a morale booster. Still wanting to tell a story, sometimes I pointed the camera the other way.
