After what felt like a year of looking, I finally got a job outside of restaurants and bars. My new job has me sitting in front of a computer and writing and editing code all day, I love it. The job doesn’t pay well or have any benefits but I can’t expect much from an entry-level programming gig. There is a lot of things I could really screw up so I understand if my new employers don’t want to invest a lot of money and trust in me right out the gate.
What makes this job so great (besides not smelling like garlic) is that I learn every day. School has taught me fundamentals, not modern techniques. I know the basic languages and skills but there is so much that I wasn’t taught. I’ll touch on that later.
I trust that everyone else is still looking hard for a job. Keep going! Everyone catches a break, you’ll find it.
